Goldbeck already generates around a third of its total turnover outside Germany. By purchasing DS Gruppen, which is also a family-run company, Goldbeck is strengthening its presence in Northern Europe and in future will also supports its customers in the Scandinavian markets. DS Gruppen is a leader in the turnkey construction of commercial properties and the production of steel and concrete building components in Denmark, generating total turnover of approx. 300 billion euros in 2021. Goldbeck is thus also seizing the opportunity to expand its production capacities.
Goldbeck and DS Gruppen: Strong similarities and common goals
“With the purchase of DS Gruppen, we are strengthening our Europe-wide offering as a life-cycle partner for commercial and municipal properties,” explains Jan-Hendrik Goldbeck, who leads the company that shares his name together with his brother Jörg-Uwe Goldbeck as Managing Partners. “Furthermore, we will be supporting DS Gruppen in the strategic development of turnkey commercial construction and production,” Jan-Hendrik Goldbeck emphasises further.
Jörg-Uwe Goldbeck highlights the similarities between the two companies: “We share various common features with DS Gruppen – and not just in regard to our core competencies. Both companies were founded in 1969, have a decentralised organisation and are second-generation family-run businesses. We see our Goldbeck values of humanity, responsibility and a passion for performance as also being reflected in the corporate culture of DS Gruppen. That is why we are delighted to be working with them”.
Mads Møller Hansen, former co-owner and CEO of DS Gruppen, is also pleased about the successful agreement: “With Goldbeck as a driver of innovation and a leader in building technology, DS Gruppen is strongly positioned for the future”. Svend Møller Hansen, founder and former co-owner of DS Gruppen, highlights the long-term prospects of the takeover: “Two successful family businesses will combine their experience and competences as part of a shared long-term strategy”.
DS Gruppen retains independent company status
Through this acquisition, Goldbeck is solidifying its position as a leading construction and services company in Europe. As with Goldbeck’s successful acquisition of the French industrial and logistics contractor GSE in 2019, DS Gruppen – as a subsidiary of Goldbeck – will retain its independent company status and its established brand name, enabling it to continue catering to the specific requirements of the market. The regional structures and the clients’ contacts will also remain the same, as will the management of the individual business units at DS Gruppen. The Møller Hansen founding family will also remain closely connected to the company.
